USA and EEC unemployment levels

USA and EEC unemployment levels

The graph shows the unemployment levels in the USA and EEC from 1972 to 1981. There were increases in those years, and also some decreases that affected the graph.

The most registered unemployed men and women were in the USA. In 1972, the number of registered unemployed in the USA was nearly 5 million; it then decreased dramatically to almost 4.5 million in 1973. After that, it increased sharply to almost 8 million and it was the highest in all categories. In contrast, registered unemployed men in the EEC had the lowest numbers and ratios in the graph. They were at 2 million in 1972 and after 9 years they increased to 5 million.

There was an increase in registered unemployed levels in all categories. Unemployment levels increased from 1972 to 1981, for men and women in both the EEC and the USA, levels that had reached almost 9m by 1981.
